Spring has sprung and I have a headache

So, I've picked up a couple bingo cards in an effort to trick myself into creating more stuff. At this rate, I'll have to sit down and make an actual plan with a schedule and everything which is not the worst idea actually.

Speaking of challenges, bandombigbang is doing another round. It's a lovely challenge and I've managed to create and consumed some of my favorite bandom works in the past. How many WIPs do you have currently running on AO3? Any you don’t plan on finishing?None in terms of actual fics in progress but there's a few series that are still open that I might still write in and I haven't wanted to close that door yet. I don't know how anyone has their lives together enough to actually start a story and then post with any regularity. Like, how is plot and plans? How does anyone live at that speed?

Honestly, even though I'm still not adjusted to the new time, I'm just glad the sun is coming back because the dark has not helped ye old depression. But, I've been reading a lot and still owe a post of Things I Have Read and Some I Even Rec, which should happen this weekend sometime. I didn't even manage to finish a fit for fluffbingo as I played a lot of video games because it's easier to hang out in chat and save the system with buddies than trying to be creative.

Speaking of fluffbingo, there's a new round with signups currently up! I would, but I am diligently working on first rounds card and might go ahead and pick up the card if I've made any headway at all by Monday night. It's low pressure, 500 words even!

Since we're on the subject of creating stuff, umbrella_rbb is set up to do an Umbrella Academy Reverse Big Bang which looks super neat. I still have a lot of feelings about the series that I can't quite articulate yet, but challenges!

And hey, podficpolygons is doing another round. It was neat to do and I rec it to anyone want to do kind of a round-robin/telephone style creative exchange project even if I don't have the brain to signup for this round.

Finally, the Awesome Ladies Podfic Anthology IX has posted over here with a collection over on ao3. I only managed to record one podfic of that Kara&Kate fic I wrote awhile back. I love this anthology. Every year is like a creative renewal for me. The pod book has a lot of wonderful creators and I need to sit down and jot down notes the next time I work through it because it's so good y'all. So. Good.

So, we've made it to Thursday! Good job everyone! I knew we could. We're all awesome like that. *group high five*

Thing the first, podfication is a go again for October 19-20, 2019. I am going to try my best to go. Unless Camp Disney 2019: Unmitigated Class just has to be scheduled for then (vacationing with buddies is a nightmare of schedules).

Thing the second, no_tags signups is going on right now until Friday, February 8 at 10pm EST. If you're a bandom folk who's not signed up yet, I promise we're gonna take good care of you and it's a fast and fun week where there's wonderful bandom fic at the end of it. Third and final thing, the Awesome Ladies Podfic Anthology IX is currently accepting podfic of women-focused fic of less than 1500 words from now until February 14. Y'all, the anthology is amazing every year and it's a great way to try your hand at podfic. It always helps me get into a making stuff mood in each year at the start.

Next week, I should have recs (I've read three actual books that I even checked out from work like some sort of person who uses the library like a boss) and I've got to sort through what fanfic I've read. Recs, Icons, and Various Sundries

Lovelies! Hi there! We made it to Friday! We are all badasses!

I'm excited about a collab I'm doing with kellifer. It's been like our own mini pod_together complete with squeeing and rough records and bonus soup recipies!

On the subject of making things and doing stuff, I've got a couple comm recs. Cut tagged because the graphics are slightly large and what if you're on mobile.

Now to the fic recs, not as many this week as I was finishing up work's taxes and I read an actual paperback book like some sort of person living in 2007. It was a Harlequin Heartwarming called Her Family's Defender by Kim Findlay. wherein a hockey player and recent cancer survivor who never expected to have a family ends up falling in slow burn love with military vet and widow mother of two. They don't even realize they're in love with each other until half way through and don't manage to confess any feelings until 3/4 the way through. It was nice! Now, because it's from their Heartwarming series, the boning takes place off screen. I'd forgotten that about this series of Harlequin. Of note, the widow deceased husband died via suicide due to ptsd from military service and she mentions having a previous sexual assault in her past though nothing in discussed explicitly.

The other actual book I read was Seanan McGuire's In an Absent Dream which is the forth in her Wayward Children series. Full disclosure, I'd gotten to read the arc of this awhile back and re-reading it, I'm still KEYSMASH about it and can only really say, oh Lundy. Oh my dear Lundy.

Because I'd gotten done with the w2s and it's the end of the month lull before things pick back up on the financial front of work, I made some rainbow themed icons this afternoon as I had nothing better to do. I mean, I also gathered stock images for the Tech Program that runs monthly that started last week so I'm ready to throw a flyer together now. I've also learned it's very easy to fall down a stock photo rabbit hole of sorts, so I've ended up with a few fox icons, owls, and colorful birds as a bonus to the rainbows.

The weather outside is soggy

Apparently, it's snowing the county south of us and we might get some tonight but hopefully nothing to amount to anything. I've got a massive fannish icon post to do and I'll try to code it sometime this weekend if I don't get to it later today. Sometime you just gotta make a whole lot of Supergirl icons. It's like a thing.

Today, I helped two girls print off pitbull coloring pages and who knew there was so many adorable coloring options?!? Because there's lots. I also, assisted girl near the same age find loldogs videos on youtube. She then quietly cooed at the puppies for the next half hour. She's living her best life.

I've read an actual book this week and read some fluffy fic.

Anyway, I've been playing a lot of Destiny 2 as usual because holiday event and it's kind of soothing to unwind for an hour while finishing short tasks. But I did finish up with my holiday shopping and I even managed to finish the embroidery kit.

But really, we made it to Dec 21. Like, the sun will come back now. Even though I am a creature of shadow and caves, I am real tired of this dark by 5:30 stuff. So tired.

Friends, it's less cold here, but I know that winter is just luring me into a false sense of security but that's fine.

I don't know if the rest of you have been watching the DCCW shows, but the crossover this year was pretty good. The last couple, Arrow was kind of the wet blanket of the bunch because it's tone is Very Serious Bzns Man Pain and the other shows are SO NOT. But I think that a good balance happened this time around without getting into any spoilery territory.

Anyway, I only bring it up because I wrote fic after episode two because I just want Kara Danvers and Kate Kane to be bros. I'm sure that I have a few more ficlets in that direction because of course I do.

I just turned my #itpe gifts in, so I'm still very free for the making of cover arts. I meant to do treats this year, but I only had brain for the two podfics I made for my main gift. Maybe next year I'll have a better home setup that encourages podficcing ALL THE THINGS.

Speaking of art, I'll probably do another round of icons this weekend. So throw a one-two word prompt in the comments. Howdy!

So I seem to be making a post that's not even my yearly 'Dear Podficcer Letter'!

Not a lot going on for me. I I just finished my first granny square blanket and I'm working on embroidery. Both are tedious but in a satisfying sort of way. My current project involves trying to design and put together a kit for my cousin who wants to learn. My first attempt at making the design is fine but needs something so I've sketched out something else and will stitch it up this weekend and will probably post that pic on twitter.

Speaking of ITPE, I've gotten two fics recorded and there's one more short one that I want to record and then I'll edit. Hopefully, I'll get all that sorted this weekend. If anyone needs covers, let me know, either in the comments or hit me up on twitter. I'm here to help. Also on the fannish front, I got a Leverage Prompt Bingo card that I've not even started on and should.

Dear Podficcer,

I’m certain that I’m already gonna love what ever you make because you’re wonderful beyond measure. ♥ Please consider this a jumping off point or a possibly needed point of inspiration. Feel no need to adhere to anything contained herein other than squicks, because squicks dude. :)

Fandoms that I would love to hear something from include: Supergirl (tv), Wonder Woman (movies and comics), Leverage, Teen Wolf, The Flash (tv), Jupiter Ascending, DCU (Bat Family), and the Captain America movies.

So Supergirl is still pretty Happy Making. Like totes. It’s just so bright and hopeful and I just want nice things for everyone on that. Specifically Kara and Alex being sisters, Kara/James, Alex/Maggie(because those two should seriously) or even Alex/Lucy. Fun crossovers with the Flash where Kara and Barry are basically adorbs puppies who save the day and then have snacks is also totally my jam. Just like, maybe avoid Mon-el because blah (seriously, yawn). Like, honestly, he’s a little boring, especially if he’s with Kara. Why is she even bothering with that nonsense when there’s a perfectly great James Olsen nearby? Like seriously.

For Wonder Woman, I'll be real with you, I still have more movie knowledge but I'd be down for Diana being awesome in any capacity in any universe, comics or otherwise. And like, Steve Trevor can somehow not be dead if you’re going in a movie!verse direction. But Diana/Peggy Carter has a very special place in my heart for the record. Very. Special.

If you are inspired in a Teen Wolf direction: The ladies are still totally my jam. Allison (totally not dead shhhhh very much alive) and Lydia being besties and hot together or Erica being awesome (because not dead either), ect. Sure, Stiles/Derek not realizing that they are in love/dating then realizing it and fluff ensues in the future is pretty wonderful too because boys being idiots in love is one of my forever faves, but ladies. Future!AUs are TOTALLY my jam for all this business. And like. Just, Peter/Anyone is best avoided for I believe him to be slimy and mostly squicky unless it's in a banter capacity.

Leverage wise, let's be real, the OT3. You know the three. YES THEM. All the them. Because them. Whether there's a job or the moments between jobs, I am SO down for those three. Heck, even gen fic where there's Chosen Family Shennanigans. Because CHOSEN FAMILY. Seriously, like you can’t go wrong with found family, not just here, but like any of my fandoms. But seriously, chosen family. I just love these characters SO MUCH.

Basically with Jupiter Ascending, I still love dogs and have always loved dogs and Jupiter is the BEST EVER. Also, random crossovers with GotG are totally cool. BUT DOGS.

For the DCU what I’m specifically talking about is bat!family because reena_jenkins is a MENACE and quite the salesperson and I don’t even really go here but every time I stop by it gives me a LOT of FEELS. Especially Jason Todd coming back to the fold. I just *wavey of hands of what even**.

With Captain America movies, I’ll be real with you. I have a Bucky Barnes problem in that I want him to have nice things. Steve/Bucky, Sam/Bucky (these two for real though like seriously I cannot even with these two). Also Peggy Carter remains the hero our world deserved and I ship her with pretty much anyone in all her glorious badassary.

For The Flash: Barry/Iris is SO GREAT, but Barry/Cisco is also cool. But like. Avoid manpain if you run across something that’s Arrow-esque. Because manpain is so not on. I’m bored with manpain is what I’m saying. So bored. Only real anti-ship other than avoiding the manpain in general would be Flash/Cold or whatever the kids are calling it these days. But Leonard Snart being his campy ridiculous self in hijinks capacity is totally fine.

Tropes and things that I enjoy: I LOVE all tropes especially like found/chosen families and faily people in love and figuring it out, sometimes naked or not. Werewolves and/or shapeshifters are ALWAYS a plus. Really, what ever ridiculous au that covers anything from space to coffee shops where people fall in love and maybe there's wings and/or humor that ends happily. But seriously, you cannot go wrong with werewolves, but you don't have to go with werewolves. I'm just saying. And you can never go wrong with awesome ladies. <3

Squicks and things that for potential avoidance: Noncon is an absolute no but Dubcon and/or pre-negotiated noncon roleplay are okay. I'm not into heavy angst, character death/dismemberment/maiming/rape, cannibalism, scat, psychological torture, heavy jealousy, wife/gf hating, Grant Ward/Anyone and/or a Grant Ward redemption type story, and animal harm. Oh, and like PWPs are not my go-to, necessarily. I like a little bit of story or at least a lead up to Steve had a bad day and Diana is going to tie him up to take care of him in a kinky way. If you’re not into recording porn, that is absolutely fine. I’d be glad for some gen or the sexy time happening off-screen.

If you are inspired in a Bandom direction, I'm remain deep love with Fall Out Boy (like Pete/Anyone. But I'm totally down for band crossovers. Like Pete/Gerard. Don't feel limited to FOB, other bands are also awesome and happy-ear making like MCR, Panic! and Empires. Panic-wise, I know Spencer is no longer in the band, but he’s still kind of my favorite. Look, I just have a lot of feelings about Spencer Smith. A lot. Seriously, so many feelings. And everyone knows that Empires is totally a band full of werewolves, right? Because they totally are. But no wife bashing please because they’re all wonderful and it’d bum me out if they ended up in jealous!gf/wife role. Total bummer.

If you are inspired in a Teen Wolf direction: The ladies are totally my jam. Allison (totally not dead shhhhh very much alive) and Lydia being besties and hot together or Erica being awesome (because not dead either), ect. Sure, Stiles/Derek not realizing that they are in love/dating then realizing it and fluff ensues in the future is pretty wonderful too, but ladies. Future!AUs are TOTALLY my jam for all this business. And like. Just, Peter/Anyone is best avoided for I believe him to be slimy and mostly squicky unless it's in a banter capacity.

Warehouse 13 is very much a yay team kinda vibe where HG/Myka is totally the ship that happened in that finale. Totally. Or like Claudia being awesome and Jinx being snarky and Pete being Pete, you know?

Leverage wise, let's be real, the OT3. You know the three. YES THEM. All the them. Because them. Whether there's a job or the moments between jobs, I am SO down for those three. Heck, even gen fic where there's Chosen Family Shennanigans. Because CHOSEN FAMILY. Seriously, like you can’t go wrong with found family, not just here, but like any of my fandoms.

Speaking of OT3s, let’s talk Star Wars. For the original trilogy that’s totally my jam. Or Leia Getting Shit Done with or without those two and just generally being a badass. Because really Finn/Poe/Rey are sooooooo excellent or a variety of pairs with any of those three. But like, Kylo doesn’t deserve my love because manpain and I don’t even have patience for waxing poetic on any nonsense like that.

Basically with Jupiter Ascending, I love dogs and have always loved dogs and Jupiter is the BEST EVER. Also, random crossovers with GotG are totally cool. BUT DOGS.

For the DCU what I’m specifically talking about is bat!family because reena_jenkins is a MENACE and quite the salesperson and I don’t even really go here but every time I stop by it gives me a LOT of FEELS. Especially Jason Todd coming back to the fold. I just *wavey of hands of what even**.

As for the Marvel Cinematic universe/Agents of SHIELD/Guardians of the Galaxy/DareDevil/Jupiter Jones/Luke Cage/Agent Carter direction: I ship everyone with everyone, including everyone in Guardians of the Galaxy. Just all the shipping all the time. Special places/ships of my heart include Melinda May/Natasha Romanov, Darcy Lewis/Natasha Romanov, Darcy Lewis/Lady Sif, Steve/Bucky, Sam/Bucky (these two for real though like seriously I cannot even with these two), Darcy Lewis/Clint Barton and just the ladies being rad. Because ladies. Oh! And those two avocados from DareDevil because of all the fluffy pining fic involving Foggy/Matt. Peggy Carter remains the hero our world deserved and I ship her with pretty much anyone in all her glorious badassary. Really, just do anything that doesn't involve shipping Grant Ward with anyone or giving him a redemptive arc because no. Just no. Everything else is golden and wonderful and gives me all good feelings but Ward is dirt and doesn't deserve my love. But like, full discretion, I haven’t seen any Agents of SHIELD since the finale of season three and have no idea what’s going on there.

For Legends of Tomorrow and The Flash: Anything, specifically into Sara being awesome with/without a side of femmslash. Barry/Iris is SO GREAT, but Barry/Cisco is also cool. But like. Mainly just the ladies, like Laurel being badass, I'm totes here for because Laurel is so not dead. So not if you found a Sara specificfic and Laurel is there because so not dead. Especially not for any manpain reasons. Because manpain is so not on. I’m bored with manpain is what I’m saying. So bored. Only real anti-ship other than avoiding the manpain in general would be Flash/Cold or whatever the kids are calling it these days. But Leonard Snart being his campy ridiculous self in hijinks capacity is totally fine.

Babylon 5: This show I cannot even because feeeeeeeeeeeels. But Susan/Talia. Really, I'd read anyone with anyone, canon or not. I have a LOT OF FEELINGS about these plucky characters and ALL THEIR SASS. SO MUCH SASS.

Supernatural: Basically Jo Harvelle isn't dead, deserves nice things, and I would be down for something involving her. Yep, that's it. I know, kinda narrow, but JO.

Tropes and things that I enjoy: I LOVE all tropes especially like found/chosen families and faily people in love and figuring it out, sometimes naked or not. Werewolves and/or shapeshifters are ALWAYS a plus. Really, what ever ridiculous au that covers anything from space to coffee shops where people fall in love and maybe there's wings and/or humor that ends happily. But seriously, you cannot go wrong with werewolves, but you don't have to go with werewolves. I'm just saying. And you can never go wrong with awesome ladies. <3

Squicks and things that for potential avoidance: Noncon is an absolute no but Dubcon and/or pre-negotiated noncon roleplay are okay. I'm not into heavy angst, character death/dismemberment/maiming/rape, cannibalism, scat, psychological torture, heavy jealousy, wife/gf hating, Grant Ward/Anyone and/or a Grant Ward redemption type story, and animal harm. Oh, and like PWPs are not my go-to, necessarily. I like a little bit of story or at least a lead up to Pete had a bad day and Gabe is going to tie him up to take care of him in a kinky way. If you’re not into recording porn, that is absolutely fine. I’d be glad for some gen or the sexy time happening off-screen.

Dear Podficcer,

This is delightful! I'm super excited and know that you are intrepid and awesome!!! I already adore you entirely! You are wonderful beyond measure. ♥ Please consider this a jumping off point or a possibly needed point of inspiration. Feel no need to adhere to anything contained herein other than squicks, because squicks dude. :)

Fandoms that I would love to hear something from include: Supergirl, Star Wars, Leverage, Babylon 5, Teen Wolf, Bandom, Arrow, The Flash, Warehouse 13, Jupiter Ascending, and Avengers/Marvel Movie'verse.

So Supergirl is MOST Happy Making. Like totes. It’s just so bright and hopeful and I just want nice things for everyone on that. Specifically Kara and Alex being sisters, Kara/James, Alex/Lucy (because those two should seriously). Fun crossovers with the Flash where Kara and Barry are basically adorbs puppies who save the day and then have snacks is also totally my jam. I cannot even with how delighted I am by this show seriously.
